1.20.15 Cider Mill Trivia
TEAMS: VAN DE GRAF & THE GENERATORS (74) put the pedal to the metal in the final round to put away the competition. CHIMP N' IT (72), our leaders through regulation, lost at the checkered flag as they ran out of gas in the final round. FEMBOTS HAVE FEELINGS TOO (68) were slow off the line, scoring only a single point in the first round, but nearly pulled out the win with a near perfect second-half.
AT LEAST WE'RE NOT LAST (60) weren't. The Cider Mill's Trivia team with a soccer problem, GOAL DIGGERS (51) dressed the part, but their final shot missed wide dropping them from the money. KOI CLAMS made several splashes, but ultimately saw their hopes go down the drain. Newbs to Dice's twisted brand of Trivia, THE COITUS MASSACRE got off to a rough start, but figured it out at the end. TRIGGER HAPPY BUNNIES could have used a lucky rabbit's foot in the 4th round. The JABRONIS possibly predicted their own finish.
TRIVIA: As "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" played, several teams struggled to solve that galena is the primary ore of the elemental metal lead. Galena is the natural mineral form of lead sulfide and is abundantly found in deposits all over the world. In the United States, galena is the official state mineral of both Missouri and Wisconsin due to the large deposits located there. Galena deposits occasionally contain 1 to 2% silver, a byproduct which has significantly greater value than the ore and there are several notable galena mining operations primarily used to extract the silver within. Lead-acid batteries are the main use of lead today, but significant quantities are used for making lead sheets and, of course, in bullets and shot.
B-TUNES: Dice probably should have played some B.B. King... Instead, Dice busted out: Band of Horses, The Beatles, Better Than Ezra, Blue Swede, Bruno Mars, (Eric) Burdon & War, (George) Baker Selection, (David) Bowie, (Fall Out) Boy, (Grizzly) Bear, and (Third Eye) Blind. "Banana Pancakes" and the previously mentioned "Bullet with Butterfly Wings" continued the inadvertently "B"-themed music selections.
